Class 322: The five 4-car class 322 sets have led a nomadic existence. They were built for the new 1991 Liverpool Street - Stansted Airport 'Stansted Express' service, delivered in the white scheme seen here, which they operated until 1997 at which point, under WAGN, they became 'common user'. Four of the five were hired by North West Trains between 1997 and 1999 for an unsuccessful Euston - Manchester Airport service. Displaced from their Stansted duties by refurbished class 317s, the fleet moved to Scotland in 2001. They operated the North Berwick branch between 2001 and 2004, and 2005 and 2011 (90+DVTs in between!). Displaced again by class 380s in Scotland, the fleet moved to Northern to work alongside the class 321/9s.
